Series 1
Scope and Contents
The publication Viator is the succesor to the Annuaire. Initiated by the Generalate in 1970 as, an instrument for supplying information and deeper knowledge of our Founder and our origins. It was intended to stress unity among various Viatorian Provinces by being printed in three languages: English, French and Spanish. The idea of this new publication was to provide a timelier vehicle for news than the often late, Annuaire. It was to be published three times a year,January, April and October). According to The Commission that proposed and sponsored this publication, it was published with a view to stressing everybody's participation and responsibility, it was decided to do away with the anonymity that had been a rule in the Annuaire in respect to the authorship of the biographies of our deceased confreres, of chronicles of information and of the leading articles. The Commission decided, The first number of Viator will be a transition between the traditional Annuaire and the much dreamed-of new Review. There are two bound copies of the 1970 and 1971 editions of this publication in the Reference Library. The Archive has two copies of each of the unbound, three annual publications in the original form of publication. The publication measured 8 " H by 6 " W, with a soft cover and staple binding. In 1970 (Volume I) and 1971 (Volume II), they did publish three editions per year. Vol. II No. 1 is missing. However, only one edition was published in 1972 (Volume III) and 1973 (Volume IV). A general index of these publications was published in French by the Generalate in 1990 and two copies are included in the collection.
