Scope and Contents

This collection of registers contains listings of Viatorian members and their personal information including dates of birth, entrance to the Community, habit, first vows, second vows, perpetual vows, Majorate, ordination and death. (Entrance since 1847-1968). Novitiate registers with same data (1882-1920, 1939-1948); and auxiliary or supplemental accounts of the vow ceremonies (1884-1968); and promotions (1926-1976). Also included are listings of placements - where the members were serving (1865-1905); founders and religious from other provinces (1865-1906); Juvenists register (1890-1925). There are 8 large bound books and individual folders of listings and descriptive information. Besides the bound books, there are 6 smaller compostion type books. These include writings on (1) the life of St. Viator (not dated), (2) the Scholasticate at St. Bernard Hall in Bourbonnais - daily activity log (Feb 27 - Nov 12, 1927); (3) Novitiate 1923-24 and Scholasticate 1925-? Journal by Fr. Frederick J. Wenthe; (4) Scholasticate conference notes1925-1928 by Fr. Frederick J. Wenthe; (5) Master of Novices Journal by by Fr. Frederick J. Wenthe (1950-1952) (6) grade book of the novices (1903-1908) called "Class Averages of the Novices of St. Viateur's Normal Institute"
