Biographical or Historical Information

After the war, His Holiness Pope Pius XII twice insisted with the Clerics of St. Viator that we take part in the evangelization of Japan.  The first invitation reached the Viatorians through the office of His Excellency Most Reverend Ildebrando Antoniutti, Apostolic Delegate to Canada.  The second invitation was sent directly from the Congregation of Propaganda (Rome). The first Missionaries in Japan (1948) were: Fr. Pierre Carrierre, Superior; Fr. Roger C. Drolet, Br. Alfred T. Pion, Fr. Alph. G. Murata and Br. Andre Paquette.  The second group (1949) were Br. Michel Toupin, Br. Gerard Michaud, Fr. Joseph Nadeau, Br. Warren Rodier and Fr. Francis P. White.
